Do you remember the film ‘Chariots of Fire’? It won the coveted Oscar for Best Picture category in 1981. The film portrayed some of the life story of Eric Liddell, a Scotsman and exceptional athlete who was born in China to missionary parents before they moved back to the UK. You can still often hear Vangelis’s marvellous theme tune to the film played on the radio.

If you were asked to name any high mountain on the face of the earth, I wonder what name would spring to mind? Without a doubt for many the answer would be ‘Everest.’

One of our favourite places to take visitors in this watery part of the world is the Maritime Museum in Liverpool. If you’ve been there, you’ll know that outside there’s a huge anchor. It came from the naval training ship HMS Conway, which sank in the Menai Straits in 1953 while being towed back to Birkenhead for a refit.

There is a God in heaven who cares for us. He is the God of the bible. He wants to care for us more than we can imagine. How do I know this? Because of the many ways He shows me he cares and because eight years ago I was with Him in a very special way in a very difficult situation. If that seems strange to you I will explain.

Life doesn't always work out as we would like or as we expect does it? We make plans and sometimes anything but the plan happens. Things come along out of the blue. Sometimes nice surprises, sometimes not nice surprises and sometimes very difficult situations altogether. The corona 19 virus is one of these very difficult and life changing situations that have suddenly overtaken most of the world. I am sure not many people could have imagined such a thing could possibly happen. How do we cope with these things in life?
