Time is Ticking By: How About Your Life?
by Gemma Coates - 12 June 2020
Have you heard people say how much spare time they have had during Lockdown?
Well, I have heard it numerous times. But as a Mum of three I have not experienced so much abundance of spare time myself. It seems some people have had time to slow down, pause, reflect and take it easy.
I have seen people casually enjoying a bit of gardening here and there, others have been doing bits or lots of DIY, upcycling, redesigning and redecorating rooms. Many have been relaxing in parks or gardens soaking up the early summer sun. I must admit I have enjoyed the glorious sunshine so I am not going to complain about lacking in that.
A few have taken up new hobbies, doing something they enjoy that they would never have normally done. What a fantastic opportunity! But as for me and for many others, lockdown has been a very busy time, where there is limited room for a break during each day, you are constantly on the go from first thing in the morning to late into the evening.

I don’t want to complain at all as I have really enjoyed keeping busy with the tasks in hand. I like being occupied and I am absolutely certain that if I wasn’t, I would certainly find something to do. But I think to myself where has the day gone? Where do the weeks go? Time really does fly by! Life is moving, it is always moving and it is moving quickly.
As the song, 'Who Am I' by Casting Crowns goes,
“I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapour in the wind.”
Life, it is here and then gone. So maybe we should stop and think what is life all about? What is important in life? What happens when I finish whizzing along and reach the end? What then?
When we ponder these questions, what certainly comes to my mind is that truth is truth. Whatever we choose to believe, the reality is that Truth is constant, Truth is steadfast and Truth remains the same. That is, God is real and God is Truth.
Such questions and thoughts might make us feel uncomfortable, or we are too busy to deal with them, or we are worried about what others may think of us. We may prefer to ignore it all and push it to the side. Nevertheless, the truth doesn’t change. It is God who has given life to you and He longingly wants to have a relationship with you. Will you give your life to Him that you may gain eternal life and live with Him forevermore?

Life goes quickly, don’t let it pass you by. I challenge you to take time to think about and look into your own life. Search into what is actually important and what will matter in the end.
The bible says in Jeremiah 29:13,
“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
